Another Winner!!

We have another winner!! Courtney Kistler guessed that the head was the part of the cow you stabilized. Well done!!

That's two in a row. I guess these questions need to get harder.
Let me go eat the rest of that chair while I think about it.

Daddy and I are watching a documentary about the "Donner Party." They're getting ready to eat each other. They just ate a mule, but that was it. Now it's each other. This is getting good!!!

New Contest

Hello Everyone,

Like I said in my last post, things here are really cold and really wet and really boring.

All my Dad does is study for Vet school. So I decided to start a contest. It's called:

"Nicky wants to know, 'Could you be a Vet???'"

Every week I'll post a new question from what my daddy is studying. If you get it right, you go into Nicky's Wall of Fame. Once a month we'll draw a name from all right answers and the winner gets a prize!!

Here is today's question.

What is the most effective and recommended way to handle a disagreeable chicken?

a. Grab it by the back of the neck like a dog or cat
b. Grab it under its wings
c. Grab it by its feet and hold it upside down
d. Grab it by its tail

Send all answers as a comment on my page and good luck.

One love.

I Love TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Greetings from the beach!!!

OK, here is one thing I've learned about living here, in the Winter, there isn't much going on. Which is GREAT!!!! Nobody on the beach, but still lots of seagulls and pelicans to chase. Then, after the beach, it's back home to watch TV while dad writes, studies for school and helps other dogs like me.

But I love TV!!! Just take a look at this photo!!! My favorite show is The Dog Whisperer, just check out this pic. I know the theme music and once it starts, I sit right here and watch.

I also love Pit Bulls and Parolees and anything on Animal Planet.

I love football too. Last weekend, my daddy and I watched football all weekend. I think the best part was that Luther and I got to share two peanut butter sandwiches. I LOVE peanut butter. More football this weekend. And hopefully, more peanut butter. J-E-T-S! Jets, Jets, Jets! I'm still a NYC boy.

Daddy weighed me today and I now weigh 75 pounds. Maybe even getting a little chubby. It's gonna be really warm on Monday and daddy is going to get on his bike and take me for a run.

Livin' the beach life!

One Love.

My Crazy Story

So, what's my story and how did I end up here. To say my story is crazy is the understatement of the century.

I think I was born in Brooklyn, NY, but I'm not sure. The bad people that had me wanted me to fight. So they cut off my ears and threw me in the ring. It didn't take long for them to figure out that I'm a lover, not a fighter. So, they threw me out on the street to fend for myself.

Luckily, I was found and taken to the shelter. Soon I was rescued by some wonderful people. They took me to a new home with my two mommies
Maria and Sabrina. I love them both sooo much.

My mommy Sabrina got sick for a little while, and I went to stay with my friend Courtney. She loved me and was soooo good to me. She took me to the park!!!

The entire time, everybody was trying to find me a forever home. But nobody would take me. Mommy Sabrina got better and I went back home to Brooklyn. But still, no home.

It was getting close to Christmas and my house was really full and there was just not enough room. My mommies didn't know what to do.

They called their friend and my best friend ever Susan Cava. Susan said, "hang on and let me call somebody, I think I may have a home."

Susan was friends with my new daddy. She called my daddy and asked him if he could give me a home, and he said "yes!"

So, Susan and mommie Maria made plans to drive me to my new home on the beach. And just then, the biggest snowstorm of the century hit. Nobody was going anywhere. Just another disappointment. But that's OK, I'd gotten used to that by now.

Susan called my daddy Patrick and tried to figure out what to do. They came up with a plan. A crazy plan.

My dad would fly to NYC, and then rent a car and drive me back home--drive me back home on Christmas Eve.

It took 10 hours to drive back home and I got sick in the back of the car, but finally I was home.

I knew this was my home and I ran as fast as I could up the steps to go inside. I could hear other dogs barking inside, but i didn't care, I was home.

My dad tried to keep me outside and take it slow, but that wasn't happening. I used my 83 pound head and pushed in the door and went inside. Four dogs were there to greet me. We sniffed and sniffed and got to know each other. It took a little while to get to know each other and for them to accept me as a full member of the crew--almost 15 minutes.

Within 15 minutes we were eating out of the same food bowl. Chasing the tennis ball. Chasing each other in the back yard.

We were all really tired and within a couple hours we all fell asleep in bed. I spooned with my new brother Luther. He was going to be my BFF.

I am so happy and can't believe how lucky I am.

Thank you to everyone who played a part in getting me here. I love you all.

Above are a couple of photos. Me before, and me after.

One Love.

Welcome to my blog

Hello and welcome to one and all

My name is Nicky and this is my blog.

I had a really rough time for most of my life, but now, I'm living like a king on the beach. I'm one lucky boy. But my dad told me that I should "pay it forward" so I've started this blog.

This blog is for one reason and one reason only, to help other animals find the kind of loving home that I did.

If you're an animal rescue group, or shelter, and have a story to tell. Send it to me and I'll put it up here on my blog.

If you have an event that you'd like to advertise, post it here.

You pay it forward.

One love.

Best,

Nicky
